Jack Antonoff’s got a new Bleachers album dropping on June 2 via RCA and in the run-up to the project’s second album we’ve heard “Everybody Lost Somebody,” “Hate That You Know Me” ft. Carly Rae Jepsen and “Don’t Take the Money,” which was written by Lorde (who collaborated with Antonoff on Melodrama).
Now comes fourth single “I Miss Those Days,” a chiming nostalgia heavy pop-rock tune that has moments recalling the most upbeat parts of Springsteen’s The River. Hell, the drums in the chorus have some Max Weinberg/E-Street Band heaviness to them that really drive home how deep Antonoff’s longing for an intermittently chaotic time is. Wistfulness and nostalgia exercises can be cloying but when they’re set to this infectious of a beat, and go by a such a breezy pace, such trips down memory lane can be life affirming.
