“Your heart’s too big, that’s why you suffer,” L.A. pop artist Ella Vos sings over soft claps and digital “ooh aahs” on new track “Little Brother.” In terms of a lyrical thesis, that one line gets to the heart of things. Letting the world in can open someone up to a lot of pain. As Vos explains it in an accompanying note “You flew higher and you fell harder.” And for such a person, Vos urges them to keep going. When the percussion drops out, she’s still around to offer a hand. With such laid-back production it borders on overly sentimental for sure, but sentimentality can be a salve for a lot of people. Sometimes it’s what can make the fall feel a little less harsh.
