Lithuanian artist Sleg’s shifting ambient work has a cold, gelid air of discovery. There’s a realization in the cavernous echoes of a song such as “Emotional Response,” an “a-ha moment” buried under a few feet of snow. Hearing some of those phantasmical voices causes just the slightest shudder. As does the slow pulsing electro soundscape. There’s still a warmth though, or at least the faint glimmer of one. And that’s the cognizance at the center of “Emotional Response,” the future is brighter than any present darkness.
