“Rattling” feels like the only way to describe Bristol producer Galtier’s “Gold Bones.” The beginning recalls dice arrhythmically rattling in a plastic cup, which is soon transmogrified by monstrous, trunk-rattling bass. Imagining it in a club setting you picture thin clouds of dust shuffling off from the ceiling and the song’s sirens piercing an ear or two.
However Galtier is wise enough to dilute all the rattling and rumbling with some watery synths noises which project calm and quiet. It’s a break from the beats. A valley of peace surrounded by mountains of drum sounds. And the avalanche is on its way.
Galtier’s Myth Codes EP drops August 26th via Infinite Machine.
